An old radio from days gone by. The inside looks rundown.
The once beautiful dial. The stations from days gone by no longer exist.
The once stately beautiful cabinet has withstood the test of time but with many deep wrinkles
Would such a device be able to play again?
The bottom has also been subject to many repairs. Which led to the silence of the device.
A major repair. Rewinding the choke in the power supply. Failed by the last tar capacitor that was not replaced. Now sound comes out of the amplifier section again
But restoration would lead to a working radio again. We use original components for this. Above old defective capacitor below new original 100% OK capacitor.
Capacitor placed in the top center of the chassis. On the tube holder. Like he's been there for 90 years.
The motor capacitors. The first sight.
Replace with new original capacitors. The first sight is original
Top right, this capacitor had smoked the bottom left choke. Now there is a new original capacitor.
The production of new capacitors
The replacement should be done in such a way that it seems that capacitors have always been there.
And that is not always easy. The parts were placed in a certain order at the factory.
But i sucseed again, at the bottom right is now an original new capacitor.
Bottom center is a whole collection of capacitors.
But that also succeed. The look of the late 1930s is slowly coming back.
One more capacitor to go. The look is there. This is what it looked like 90 years ago.
Completely restored. This is what the device would have looked like without the many repairs after 90 years.
Also just replace the ratchet capacitor.
Just a view of this beautiful device.
The dial pointer again gives a good light image on the dial.
